Public holidays in Bulgaria are established by the Labour Code, highlighting national historical milestones: National Liberation Day (3 March), Saint George's Day and Armed Forces Day (6 May), the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture (24 May), Unification Day (6 September), and Independence Day (22 September). When a public holiday (other than Easter) falls on a weekend, the following Monday is observed as a day off.

School term dates and vacation periods are regulated centrally by the Ministry of Education and Science (MON), applying uniformly across all 28 provinces for autumn, Christmas, winter, and spring breaks.
