Public holidays in Croatia are established by the Holidays, Memorial Days and Non-Working Days Act, honouring national milestones — including Statehood Day (30 May), Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day (5 August), and Remembrance Day for the Victims of the Homeland War (18 November) — alongside Christian feast days. When a public holiday falls on a weekend, no replacement day is granted.
The academic year is organised into two semesters by the Ministry of Science and Education, with a continuous winter break around Christmas and New Year, alongside spring and summer vacations.
