Public holidays and dual Christmas calendar in Moldova

Public holidays in Moldova are defined by the Labour Code, officially celebrating Christmas under both the Revised Julian / Gregorian calendar (25 December) and the Julian calendar (7–8 January), alongside Orthodox Easter and Memorial Easter (Paștele Blajinilor). In addition, every city and village celebrates its own local patron saint's feast day (Hramul localității) as an official non-working day.

The school calendar is established by the Ministry of Education and Research, divided into two semesters. The winter break is structured to cover both Christmas observances, while schools in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia follow the national curriculum with linguistic and cultural provisions.
