When to take leave in Serbia

What one, two or three days of leave get you:

State holidays, Krsna Slava, and school calendars in Serbia

Public holidays in Serbia are governed by the Law on State and Other Holidays. The statute combines national state holidays — notably Statehood Day (Sretenje, 15–16 February) and New Year — with statutory rights for employees of all faiths to take paid leave for their religious observances: Orthodox Christians on the first day of their family patron saint feast (Krsna Slava), Catholics and Western Christians on Christmas and Easter, Muslims on Ramadan and Kurban Bayram, and Jews on Yom Kippur.

While school terms in Central Serbia are set by the Ministry of Education, the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina exercises provincial jurisdiction to issue its own school calendar, coordinating winter break timing with the multicultural traditions and holidays of its national minorities.
