Religious harmony and public holidays in Albania

Public holidays in Albania reflect the country's constitutional commitment to religious harmony and diversity. The national calendar officially observes Islamic festivals (Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha), Bektashi celebrations (Sultan Nevruz on 22 March), and Catholic and Orthodox Easters alongside Christmas, Flag and Independence Day (28 November) and Liberation Day (29 November). When a public holiday falls on a weekend, the following Monday is observed as a non-working day.

The school calendar is established by the Ministry of Education and Sports via annual ministerial order, applying uniformly across all 12 counties. The academic year includes unified national vacations, with primary and basic education students receiving an additional spring break in April.
