Public holidays and school calendar in Cyprus

Public holidays in Cyprus reflect both national and religious observances kept by public institutions and the banking sector. School term dates are set centrally by the Ministry of Education, with schools also closing on their local community patron saint day and the Archbishop's name day.

The official holiday calendar in Cyprus combines commemorations of national history — including Cyprus Independence Day (1 October) and Greek national days (25 March and 28 October) — with major Christian religious observances. Public sector institutions and banks follow these statutory and customary closures, with banks additionally closing on Easter Tuesday.

The school calendar is determined by the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth through national regulations. Beyond core Christmas, Easter, and summer breaks, individual schools observe a local holiday for their community's patron saint, Maronite schools may mark Saint Maron's feast, and all schools close for the name day of the Archbishop of Nova Justiniana and All Cyprus.
