Reformation Day and North Sea island holiday schedules in Schleswig-Holstein

Schleswig-Holstein introduced Reformation Day (31 October) as a permanent statutory public holiday in 2018 jointly with the other northern coastal states.

School holiday schedules are set by the Ministry of General and Vocational Education, Science, Research and Culture, which provides a distinct summer holiday schedule for its North Sea islands (such as Sylt, Föhr, Amrum, and Helgoland) to accommodate the peak summer tourism season.
