Religious holidays and National Day in Liechtenstein

Under Article 37 of the constitution, the Roman Catholic Church is the established state church of Liechtenstein, and statutory public holidays follow the Catholic liturgical calendar. State law designates church holidays and national observances, such as National Day on 15 August (the Feast of the Assumption), as official days of rest.

School holiday schedules are established centrally by government ordinance and align with the liturgical year, including winter sports holidays (Sportferien) and breaks at Christmas and Easter. Primary schools and kindergartens are administered by the municipalities, while secondary schools fall under national administration.
