Public holidays and National Day in Luxembourg

Public holidays in Luxembourg are established by the Labour Code. The national holiday (Fête nationale) on 23 June celebrates the official birthday of the Grand Duke, marked by torchlight processions, fireworks, and civic ceremonies. Europe Day (9 May) is also an official public holiday.

The school calendar is structured by the Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth into study periods separated by holiday breaks at All Saints, Christmas, Carnival, Easter, and Pentecost, running from mid-September to mid-July.
