Saint Martin's Day in Poznań and traditional croissants

In Greater Poland, 11 November uniquely combines National Independence Day with Saint Martin's Day (Dzień Świętego Marcina) in Poznań. A festive pageant marches along Święty Marcin street led by Saint Martin on a white horse, accompanied by the consumption of hundreds of tons of traditional St. Martin's croissants (rogale świętomarcińskie).

Winter school break dates for Greater Poland are determined annually by the Ministry of National Education as part of the nationwide four-turn rotation.
