Grand Est contains a unique statutory legal regime in France: in the departments of Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin, and Moselle (Alsace-Moselle), historical local law maintains Good Friday and Saint Stephen's Day (26 December) as mandatory statutory public holidays.
