Radvanský Fair, mining heritage, and spring break

The Banská Bystrica Region is renowned for its historic mining towns and folklore heritage. In Banská Bystrica, the annual Radvanský Fair (Radvanský jarmok) in September is one of Slovakia's oldest craft fairs, inscribed on the national Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. In UNESCO-listed Banská Štiavnica, the Salamander Days (Salamandrové dni) festival in September commemorates centuries of mining tradition with an elaborate costumed parade.

School spring breaks in the region follow the Central Slovakia rotation group (shared with Žilina and Trenčín), rotating annually within the three-week February–March schedule.
