Rupertitag and semester break in Salzburg

The patron saint of Salzburg is Saint Rupert (Rupertitag, 24 September), founder and first bishop of the city of Salzburg. On Rupertitag, schools across Salzburg are closed; around Salzburg Cathedral, the historic Rupertikirtag fair takes place with traditional market stalls and folk music.
The winter semester break falls in the second week of February under the federal school calendar.
