Feast of the French Community and school rhythm reform

The Feast of the French Community (Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles) is celebrated on 27 September, commemorating the victory of Belgian revolutionary patriots over Dutch troops in Brussels Park in September 1830.

Under the school calendar reform applied from the 2022 academic year, the French Community follows a regular cadence of seven weeks of class alternating with two weeks of holiday. As a result, autumn (Toussaint) and carnival (Détente) breaks each last two full weeks, while the summer holiday is shortened to seven weeks (from early July to late August).
