Independence Day in Neuchâtel

The Canton of Neuchâtel celebrates the Fête de l'Indépendance on 1 March as an official public holiday, commemorating the 1848 republican revolution that overthrew Prussian royal rule and established Neuchâtel as a Swiss republic.
Reflecting its Reformed heritage, the canton does not observe Catholic feast days such as Corpus Christi or All Saints. School terms are determined by the cantonal education service.
