Holidays and Rabadan carnival in Ticino

In the Italian-speaking, Catholic Canton of Ticino, traditional church solemnities are statutory public holidays equated with Sundays.

In Bellinzona, the historic Rabadan carnival (established in 1862) is one of Switzerland's largest, featuring the ceremonial handover of the city keys to King Rabadan and school closures. School terms are determined by the Department of Education, Culture, and Sport.
