Public and school holidays in Italy
Italy has 11 public holidays everywhere. The rest change from one region to the next, and so do the school terms. Pick one to see its dates, the weekdays they fall on, and the bridge days around them.
National public holidays are established by state law. In addition, nearly every municipality (comune) celebrates its local patron saint's day as a public holiday. School calendars are set by each regional government.

Patron saint feasts and school calendars in Italy
National public holidays in Italy are uniform across the country, combining secular milestones (such as Liberation Day and Republic Day) with religious holidays recognised under the Concordat with the Holy See. Beyond national holidays, Italian tradition grants every municipality (comune) a local public holiday for its patron saint (festa del santo patrono), recognised as a paid day off under collective employment agreements.
School calendars are determined by each region, following a national framework running between September and June. The autonomous province of South Tyrol (Bolzano) establishes its own distinct school calendar for its German, Italian, and Ladin school systems.
