Saints Peter and Paul in Rome and Macchina di Santa Rosa

In Lazio, public life in Rome halts on 29 June for the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul (Santi Pietro e Paolo), the patron saints of the Eternal City, celebrated with liturgical solemnities in Saint Peter's Basilica and evening fireworks over Castel Sant'Angelo.
In Viterbo, the feast of Santa Rosa is celebrated on 4 September, preceded on its eve (evening of 3 September) by the historic procession of the 30-metre-high Macchina di Santa Rosa carried by 100 Facchini. School terms are determined by the regional council of Lazio.
