Public and school holidays in Spain
Spain has 10 public holidays everywhere. The rest change from one autonomous community to the next, and so do the school terms. Pick one to see its dates, the weekdays they fall on, and the bridge days around them.
National law sets a core of mandatory public holidays, while autonomous communities and municipalities add regional and local festivals. School calendars are determined independently by each region.
Sunday holidays move to the following Monday; Saturday holidays do not move.

Regional public holidays and school calendars in Spain
Spain's holiday system balances nationwide observances with regional autonomy. Under national labour law and the 1979 agreements with the Holy See, statutory holidays include mandatory national milestones alongside observances that autonomous communities may substitute with their own traditional festivals. Communities frequently choose between Saint Joseph and Saint James, or designate official holidays celebrating regional identity — such as the National Day of Catalonia (La Diada), the Day of Andalusia, the Day of Madrid, or the 9 d'Octubre in Valencia. In Ceuta and Melilla, official calendars also incorporate major Islamic holidays (Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha).
School calendars are established by each autonomous community's education department, observing a statutory requirement of at least 175 instructional days. Start dates, Easter breaks, and local discretionary days off vary across territories.
