Castile and León Day, Holy Week, and Lunes de Aguas

Castile and León celebrates its regional day, Día de Castilla y León, on 23 April in Villalar de los Comuneros, commemorating the 1521 Battle of Villalar during the Revolt of the Comuneros against King Charles I.

In Salamanca, the local custom of Lunes de Aguas is celebrated on the Monday after Easter week with riverside picnics. School terms are determined by the regional education ministry, with classes running from September to June.
