Extremadura Day, Virgen de Guadalupe, and Carnival

Extremadura Day (8 September) coincides with the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of Extremadura and Queen of the Hispanic World, centred on the Royal Monastery of Santa María de Guadalupe. In addition, Shrove Tuesday (Martes de Carnaval) is widely celebrated as a regional holiday, highlighting the famous Carnival of Badajoz.

The regional education department approves the school calendar, aligning teaching terms with Easter, Christmas, and carnival breaks.
