Balearic Islands Day and island patron saint feasts

Balearic Islands Day (1 March) commemorates the enactment of the region's 1983 Statute of Autonomy. Each island preserves vibrant patron saint traditions: the historic Festes de Sant Joan in Ciutadella, Menorca (23–24 June) with medieval equestrian games, and the celebrations of Sant Sebastià (20 January) in Palma with citywide concerts and open-air bonfires (foguerons).

The regional education ministry approves the annual school calendar, incorporating the traditional Easter holiday period and island-specific non-school days.
