Ceuta Day, Virgen de África, and Islamic holidays

Ceuta Day (2 September) marks the arrival of Pedro de Meneses in 1415 as the city's first governor. The autonomous city features a uniquely multicultural holiday calendar: alongside the patroness Santa María de África (5 August), official public holidays include the major Islamic solemnities of Eid al-Fitr (end of Ramadan) and Eid al-Adha (Feast of the Sacrifice).

The Spanish Ministry of Education manages the school calendar in Ceuta, accommodating the city's cultural and multi-faith heritage.
