Saint Ignatius, San Prudencio, and Tamborrada

In the Basque Country, holiday calendars highlight long-standing patronal celebrations: Saint Ignatius of Loyola (31 July), patron saint of Biscay and Gipuzkoa, and Saint Prudencio (28 April), patron of Álava, celebrated with a drum parade (tamborrada) in Vitoria-Gasteiz. In San Sebastián, 20 January brings the iconic 24-hour non-stop drumming festival of the Tamborrada.

The school calendar is established by the Basque Government's Department of Education, accommodating term dates and local feast days across each historical province.
